Power BI vs Google Data Studio in data visualization

It is also ideal for client use as well, with its ability to create a wide variety of custom made visual reports. It’s also designed primarily for consumers and small businesses.



Because of familiar UI components and convenient functions, Power BI is a clear winner when easy to use. All you need are always where you expect them to be. Moreover, it has a drag and drops function, allowing you to add images and data fields to the report in few clicks.


Google Data Studio can be analyzed with sources from Google: Adwords, Analytics, Youtube, Attribution 360 (WebMaster Tools about to support) … It\’s too easy, just connect the accounts, and can view realtime, select each period. However, users who have never worked with  Google Analytics suite may find it difficult to navigate the menus and tweak visuals and charts.




Although the GDS has just released a beta test, it leads the way in this category with a small percentage. Many Power BI users occasionally have problems with data refresh and intuitive customization options on Microsoft and Google support forums.

That can\’t say that GDS doesn\’t have its problems. However, because it has fewer features and fewer moving parts than Power BI, its code is naturally more stable.


Notably, Google\’s Data Studio is completely free to access and use. You will save money when you have to build a reporting system. Especially with GDS, you can share your reports with anyone you want, which is what I am impressed with the GDS.

Meanwhile, Power BI offers two enterprise pricing plans: a free version and a paid ‘Pro’ version that costs $9.99 per user per month.

  2. Pro version – gives you all Power BI features, including real-time dashboard updates, more customization options for visuals, and access management controls for security.

If your budget is limited, GDS makes more sense, but if you need a full suite of reporting features, Power BI Pro is a clear choice.

Overall, Power BI is a more established solution than GDS, offering a robust set of functions for a small monthly fee. GDS is a good choice for those who want a free service with basic features. It may, however, hold you back in terms of gaining valuable insights and making informed business decisions.
